I’ve been preparing to get back into our school schedule. Well, our “official” schedule, because, let’s face it: every moment is teachable. And THAT, my friends, is one awesome thing about homeschooling!![]()
So, in the midst of preparation, I have updated our Calendar Book pages and fixed them up so you can use them too! There is a variety of options to choose from, and you don’t have to use everything in a book, like we do, you could just utilize the different skill pages in other parts of your day.
We have been using the Calendar Books I created for the past year or so. We basically use them for practicing not only letter formation by tracing, but Thing One has learn ALL his months of the year by sight through these simple pages. We worked on the first thing, when we were doing our wall calendar.
It has morphed into a GREAT activity to stick in the quiet bag for church and doctor appointments. Thing Two likes to work in his book when I am busy with his Brother. I can call out numbers while still focusing on Thing One, and he can “hide” the correct numeral.
And, the other day I caught Thing Two working in his book (his choice) and tracing with total PERFECTION. Now, his pencil grip leaves much to be desired, but – sheesh – that’s awesome!
Thing One even came up with a way to RECYCLE his Calendar month pages! One day this summer he saw me changing out the June for July in his book. He begged me to cut up the month…and so I let him. Not only was it a SNEAKY way to get in some fine motor and scissor skills, but after he cut out all the days and numbers, he said “it’s a big puzzle – now I need to build it!” And he did – with little help from me – put it back in numerical order like a real calendar. Impressive.
Ready to check these pages out? Here’s the different components to our current Calendar Book. I place the pages in sheet protectors and let them use dry erase markers. But you could also just use the sheets with markers or crayons. I am working on a few more additional as well, so stay tuned. Just click on the images below to download the PDF files.

Enjoy! Let me know if you use these, and I will link back to your blog post on my printables page so others can see examples of how these activities can be used!
