Weekly Wrap Up {RRS Letter M}

Well, it has been…a while…since I’ve had any time to devote to blogging. There are many changes going on in our lives right now. It happens. Hopefully the changes of the past few months {and those in coming months} will be fruitful on all fronts.

In the mean time, we’re back at school, which is lending some calm to our days. And, we’re in our NEW school room! Here is our week in photos.

Thing Two’s Preschool Activities

Thing Two’s activities came from the usual places: Raising Rock Stars Preschool (I use several of the Kindergarten RRS activities with him as well), Animal ABC, Letter if the Week Preschool, and also some of the Letter of the Week K4 activities too.

Kindergarten with Thing One

For Micah, I recently realized, we are actually into -mostly- 1st grade level work. But we’re still working on counting up to our 180 “official” days of Kindergarten. So, do with that what you will. At some point I guess I’ll have to figure out his grade, but for now we don’t have to report to the state of Washington until he’s 8. I am tracking our days/hours (as they require) NOW so I am in the habit of good record keeping for later. I’ll just keep going at whatever pace he sets academically until I have to officially label him in a grade for our state in a couple years.

: Letter Mm maze (yeah, a bit under his level, but it is something easy and fun to mix into his day!)

: Math: We use Math-U-See and are into the Alpha level.

: Tallying up our weather from March and noting the least and most weather days. This is part of the calendar book I created for him. I am working on implementing a few more things to out books and then plan to share it with you. :-)

: Ordering his RRS verse (RRSK)

: working on adding doubles. I found this awesome worksheet on education.com and seriously thinking of paying for the subscription access. Awesome site!!!

I haven’t posted a wrap up in weeks, so here’s the last few weeks all together. That might get us caught up some.

Letter X Week

: He had some fun looking back over his completed work!

Letter V Week

: We {were} subscribed to National Geographic Kids mag for a year and I saved and laminated all the free animal cards that come in each issue. He loves them!

: We pulled out some of the V is for Valentine from COAH too.

: Ben usually gets our the math-u-see blocks and plays Mr. Demme. It’s hilarious!

: He just decided to ABC order the foam bath tiles we have – Go Ben!

We’re officially moving in March, so life’s abou to be even more nuts. Thankfully the move coincides with Co-Op spring break (for part of the month anyway), so that will make settling into the house much easier. We’ll be taking some time away from school. I still have some RRS weeks to catch up on, so I’ll still be posting wrap ups to catch us up to present-day.

Thing One (aka Micah) had some fun this week reviewing his 2′s Math Facts with a Lego Math Printable from View from the Pew. He loves building with Legos – so practicing his math with Legos was an instant hit!

: He like it enough that he didn’t think it was “work.” Haha – Mama 1, Micah 0

: I drew the + and = on our school table with a overhead marker (do people still call them that?!) so he could build the problems and we could wipe it off after we were done.

: Other than a backwards 5 – I’d call this a success full math day!

Letter F Activities

: RRS Letter flash cards – he cuts and glues them to a page that is the color of the week. then we put them in a page protector and into his RRS binder.

Weekly Wrap Up {RRS Ii}

Our Raising Rock Stars/Animal ABCs Weekly Theme Board.

I am so, so proud of Micah – he recited all of this memory verses up to this week for Raising Rock Stars. He’s a true Rock star!

I feel like I always give all of the camera attention to Ben (aka Thing 2), because he’s doing “fun” stuff. So, now, thanks to a “cool” phone, I can easily record Micah actually saying his Rock Star verses – and that makes him pretty excited and proud of himself. Especially when I told him we would send the video to grandma and grandpa. He loves to show off for people.

No idea where he gets that from, but thankfully I don’t think there’s any chance of you getting your hands on old videos of my sister and me at that age.

And now, Letter Ii with Thing 2…

He had fun doing all kinds of activities from Animal ABCs and Raising Rock Stars (I am using both the RRSP & RRSK level activities with him).

: I called out numbers for him to find on the 1-20 iguana counting sheet.

: One of his favorite parts of the Rock Star (K) program is the letter collage. THe directions say to draw pictures, but we hunt for the them in magazines.

: Counting out “eggs” to the “mama inchworms.”

: We make a sheet of all his letter words each week for his Rock Star binder.

Weekly Wrap Up {RRS Hh}

This week was trying. It seems it is not the terrible 2′s in our house, but the terrible 3′s!

I am not sure how moms with more than two kiddos can balance their attention and time between their littles – when I can’t seme ot be effective with only 2! Seems I am always telling poor Ben {Thing Two} to be quite and patient so I can work with this Big Brother. Some days he is agreeable in this area – other days, not so much.

Raising Rock Stars, ABC Animals, and LOTW

Hippos are probably Thing Two’s favorite animal. Of course, he really just likes all animals. Which is why I love any animal themed activities for him.

: Number Hippos (LOTW) – I painted a bunch of clothes pins from the Dollar Tree different colors to make clipping more fun!

: RRS Letter H hunt. He found H for Heater.

: H for Hearts

: Animal ABCs – his favorite thing so far each week has bene ot make his animal letters.

: He uses the Hippos on the letter H we stick on our board to copy where to place his hippos. He says the hippos want to “watch him.”

: Some shape fun from the Animals – this week he seems ot have added in some Tigers left over from last week.

: I figured out how to PRINT on sentance strips – and I’m never going back to handwriting again! lol …I made a “silly sentance” game for Micah to mix, build, and read. His favorite sentnace he built was: “The big pig had some gas.” Yes, how could I not include a little gas humor for him?

: Working on mastering his phonograms with All About Spelling.
