With school officially finishing up I can READ. I will be graduating from the online program at Grand Canyon University (a school which I would never recommend, not even to my worst enemy, btw) with a degree in English Literature (with a lot of other random stops & schools along the way). It took me nearly 10 years, but hey, I finally did it!
Anyway – now I can dive into “fun” reading again! I have books and recommendations piling up from friends and my own wishlist, as well as some to review for actual publishers (gotta love free books!).
Here’s what’s on my short list:
- One Month to Live by Kerry & Chris Shook – finished this and my reaction is blah. Read my review here. Just not my cup of tea! But I know others have really enjoyed it and taken away a lot of insight…but not me.
- Real Marraige by Mark & Grace Driscoll – finished this and currently working on a review for Booksneeze.com
- Light of Edion by Karen Hancock – yea yea yea so excited to “open” this one up on my Kindle, it was FREE a few days ago on amazon.com! Loved The Areana, which I read almost 8 years ago. Awesome, so awesome. Hopefully this one is just as good. It is a “book one” so you know what that means…if I get hooked I’ll have to search for the others.
- The Book of Matthew (in the Bible) by Matthew/God (haha) - This is for a Kay Aurthur Bible Study I am doing with some friends.
- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins – Sounds like a very interesting read. This YA reading recommendation came to me by a former youth group kid (aka my babysitter/adopted little sister/bff’s daughter), who is now off to college…okay that makes me sound old. Anywho, I have read several YA books I would have never picked up on my own thanks to her recommendations, and she hasn’t steered me wrong yet.
Yes, I like a little teen-angst and drama among my grown up life…creates a nice vacation from mommy-world.
Well that’s what I hope to have read within the next month. I actually have a want/goal/idea to write a little review of anything I read form now on. Why not? It is not only a good writing exercise, but it is also fun…to me…since I love writing just about anything…besides maybe a research paper.
